Housing
Place making is key to all housing projects we undertake. Schemes must not only respond to the local context but also improve the environment for people and avoid the typical carbon copy approach.
Sustainability is at the heart of virtually all new housing work, and the challenge for design teams is to keep abreast of the increasingly onerous requirements of both national and local government, and the various regulatory bodies who influence the planning process.
Within our remit over the external environment, we seek to create integrated design solutions that address these wide ranging issues, from accessibility and Sustainable Drainage to green roofs and improved biodiversity, in a seamless manner within the design of the streetscape and public open space network. At the same time, these must also include the more traditional features of playgrounds and local parks. Whilst this process of 'joined-up' design thinking is more demanding, it allows for the effective use of land, and can contribute strongly to local distinctiveness.
Whether it be urban extensions, high quality urban apartment blocks, homezones, live/work units in rural communities, or small niche developments we provide a full range of services from landscape and visual assessment through to detailed design and contract administration always with a view to understanding site conditions and maximising the site's potential.
