Tree Assessment

With environmental concerns ever higher up the agenda, consideration for existing trees within any development is seen as an important first step within the design process. Trees add to the character, amenity and the ecology of a site and can give a feeling of maturity to a new development.

If trees of amenity value are present within a development site or near its boundaries on adjacent land, a tree survey will be requested by the Local Authority as part of the planning application. The Tree Survey should be used to inform the site layout and design and therefore should be undertaken prior to any design work.

As part of the design process Illman Young can provide information and recommendations on the status of existing trees, and those trees which should be retained or removed, along with appropriate protection measures for those to be retained during construction. For more information on tree surveys please see our fact sheet.
